Situated on six and a half acres on the border of La Quinta and Indio, the grounds are as seductive as the menu of mouth-watering hickory- and apple wood-smoked ribs, chicken, tri tip, pulled pork, fresh fish and prime steaks.
Popular for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch, the 21,000-square-foot property also hosts all kinds of family celebrations, including birthdays, first communions, confirmations, bar and bat mitzvahs, quinteñeras, sweet 16s, graduations, engagements, weddings, bridal and baby showers, anniversaries, reunions, and holidays.
It’s also a destination for corporate retreats and business events, including mixers, awards presentations, sales training, and board meetings.

The expansive and flexible space accommodates automobile shows, business expos, art exhibitions, fashion shows, concerts, and a variety of charitable events on the manicured grounds, which are lush with gardens, water features, and fine art.
Inside, great thought went into every detail in the restaurant. In the bar, for example, the fans run on a pulley system and the tables are constructed from old wine barrels, shotguns, and spurs. The artwork includes bronze trees with limbs reaching across the space and one of two murals depicting appaloosa horses. The second mural is in the appropriately named Appaloosa Room, which accommodates up to 100 guests and boasts luxurious high-back embossed leather chairs, crushed velvet booths, a cathedral ceiling, and a view of the lagoon and fine sculptures.
Each area of Jackalope Ranch offers a different vibe. The rustic Lodge accommodates up to 60 guests inside and another 120 in the stacked-stone courtyard patio surrounded by walls of Bougainvillea and featuring a trickling fountain and a crackling fireplace.
You can create a more intimate setting in the Callender Room, which was built by the restaurant’s founder for special events for up to 24 guests.
The outdoor spaces offer distinctive options such as The Grove, where illuminated palm trees, a dramatic waterfall, and fragrant rose garden enclose a sprawling lawn that accommodates up to 800 guests. Smaller groups can take advantage of Lucky’s Lawn, which has twin waterfalls, a bubbling lagoon, and fine sculptures, as well as the intimate Lucky’s Patio and the Lakeside Terrace.
But nothing impresses as much as the high-quality ribs, brisket, tri tip, and pulled pork that cook to perfection for up to 16 hours in a Southern Pride smoker with apple wood and hickory. The smoker is the heart of the kitchen but situated in the main area, where guests can see and appreciate the patient process. The best barbecue comes not only from the distinctive sauces, but also from the dry rubs and slowly cooking the meat on a low temperature, allowing the apple wood to create a mild, fruity, and slightly sweet aroma.

Business and training retreats can take advantage of team-building experiences including mixology and the guacamole challenge. Other groups can enjoy Western-themed shows with rope tricking and other entertainment.
